I am so excited to start my second year at QAE! I am so honored to continue teaching in such a welcoming community of families, teachers, and learners.
Raised in a suburb of Baltimore, Maryland, I have dreamed of becoming a teacher since I was seven years old. In high school, I even became treasurer of our teacher’s club, Future Educators of America. I attended The College of Notre Dame of Maryland with that in mind, majoring in British history and minoring in political science. After completing my degree, my husband and I moved to Seattle, where I decided to attend graduate school at Antioch University, obtaining my Masters in Education in 2011, the same year that my daughter Willow was born.
After a year staying home with Willow, I decided to try teaching different grade levels to find that “good fit” for me. I briefly taught Preschool in the University District before moving to a Jewish Orthodox school to teach second grade and a fourth/fifth grade split class.
I continue to feel incredibly honored and lucky to have found a school with a rich, vibrant community that encourages strong social-emotional learning along with traditional academic learning. I am looking forward to an exciting year doing what I love and feel most passionate about: building strong and lasting relationships with students and families.
I am interested in exploring and connecting technology into every aspect of the classroom, singing in the shower (I’m tone deaf), playing with Willow, working on my Fantasy Life character, and curling up with a good book after a long day. I can’t wait to jump right in and continue our important work this year. Together we really can change the world!
